Lifestyle Apparel Designer

Position: Lifestyle Apparel Designer
Location: Tacoma, Washington

SCOTT is a leading worldwide brand for multi-sport athletes specializing in performance and lifestyle products for skiing, snowboarding, motocross, and biking. As our Apparel Designer in Lifestyle Apparel.

Duties will include:

•    Review market analysis for indications of trends in colors, fabrics and style.

•    Create original, innovative concepts and designs that lead the industry and accurately reflect SCOTT’S design philosophy.

•    Works with the design team to select colors, fabrics, and design silhouettes for the upcoming season.

•    Draft technical drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.

•    Provide prototype sampling information, including fabrication, color, graphic applications, style, detail and fit requirements.

•    Works with Fit Manager in developing exact fit for selected styles.

•    Collaborates with on technical construction techniques.

•    Design trims, accessories, and artwork in addition to designs.

•    Oversees adherence to product development calendar.

•    Participates in development of presentations for sales department.

•    Attends shows to analyze reaction to new line.

Requirements for the position include:

•    Minimum 2-3 years experience.

•    Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design or the equivalent.

•    Understanding of pattern making and grading techniques, fabrics, garment construction, production processes and body measurement charts.

•    Able to travel both in the US and overseas.

•    Able to analyze the dynamics of the human body in motion and identify shapes for functional fit that meet the needs of the end user.

•    Working knowledge of PC's and PC / MAC applications, including MS Excel and Word / Adobe Illustrator.

•    Creativity and ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally to others.

•    Able to work independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people.

•    Willingness to work long hours during seasonal rush periods.

•    Must be a self starter and able to contribute in design reviews.
