Singletrack paradise in the mountains of eastern France
Discover a trail network par excellence. Around the Grand Ballon – the highest mountain in the Vosges – an incredible trail paradise awaits, with dozens of first-class descents of up to 1,000 meters at a time. Fast and flowy gives way to some more technical sections, as we fly through enchanted forests down to the valley floor. Most of the climbs are done with shuttles, so you can save your energy for the downhill! Ending at one of the many cozy auberges in the region, offering fine Alsatian cuisine, you have the recipe for a perfect few days of biking.

Program
Independent arrival at the hotel, followed by a welcome dinner to get to know the group.
On the first day, we’ll explore the mountains and descents on the north side of the Vallée de la Thur. We know over a dozen fantastic downhill runs in this area alone and they are nothing short of addictive. Among the highlights are the descents from the Grand Ballon. The longest trail stretches over 12 km into the valley 1,000 meters below and pulls out all the stops: super-fast flow sections alternate with more technically challenging sections through rough and rocky terrain.
- Uphill: max. 500 m
- Downhill: up to 5,000 m

On the second day, we’ll explore the other side of the valley. Today requires a bit of pedal power on the ascent to earn the descents, but only for 20 to 30 minutes. After that, we’re back in downhill mode with 4-6 descents over varied trails, tackling everything from loamy forest floor and scree passages to switchbacks and super-fast flow sections.
- Uphill: max. 600 m
- Downhill: up to 5,000 m

On the last day, we’ll go to the head of the valley, where the trails tend to be wilder, rockier and generally more challenging. One of the many descents leads down into the Münstertal, home to the famous Münsterkäse (a local soft cheese); another trail brings us back to the Vallée de la Thur. With too many trails to ride in one day, you’ll have plenty of reasons to come back for more. Indulge in one more slice of blueberry tart before heading home on a sugar and adrenaline high.
- Uphill: max. 500 m
- Downhill: up to 5,000 m
