Doghammer x SCOTT Sports

18 June 2024

Discover a unique SCOTT collaboration that transforms surplus goggle straps into stylish and sustainable slippers. Embracing the ethos of upcycling, Doghammer gives new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste, creating vibrant footwear with a surprising blend of colors in each pair.

What type of leftovers do we use?

In crafting our upcycled slippers, we repurpose surplus material from our SCOTT winter and motorsports goggle strap production. This surplus material originates from various sources, including material testing, color discontinuations, or instances where the material does not pass our quality standards. Rather than discarding the straps, we give them a new life by incorporating them into the Doghammer x SCOTT upcycled slippers.

Where are the upcycled slippers made?

The upcycled slippers are produced by Doghammer. A young Bavarian company looking to reduce the impact of footwear production. Redirect link to the anker at the bottom “About Doghammer”

In the first step, the goggle straps are sorted by color and width. Once sorted, pairs of straps are stitched together to achieve the desired width. To ensure durability, the inner side of the slipper straps is lined with a thin microfiber material. The footbed of the slippers incorporate materials sourced from the "Cork Collect Challenge" by Doghammer, where old cork stoppers are gathered for recycling and mixed with EVA. Thanks to the inherent properties of the cork, these slippers offer a remarkably comfortable fit. The outsole, also manufactured in Portugal, features a slim profile designed to provide reliable traction for everyday use. It is also designed for resoling, which is another great eco-credential of the slippers.

What makes the upcycled slippers so special?

The unique aspect of these slippers lies in the project's concept: Offering leftover materials a new life rather than discarding them. By incorporating other upcycled materials like cork for the slipper's footbed, we are finding solutions for today’s potential waste streams and offering a more sustainable alternative.

Do all slippers have the same color?

No! Since we exclusively use leftover materials from our goggle straps, each pair features a unique color combination. There's no option to select the color beforehand; instead, it's a delightful surprise when you receive your ordered slippers! This adds an extra dimension to the project and emphasizes that only surplus materials are used in crafting the slippers.

Where can I get the upcycled slippers?

These upcycled slippers can be bought on the website of our partner Doghammer. https://www.doghammer.de/scott/
