UTMB Week 2024 Kicks Off with a Win for SCOTT Running
Kicking off the week in style for the team was Iris Pessey, fresh from the back of racing the Ultraks ‘Extreme’ race just three days prior—a casual 29k with 3,000+ meters of elevation. By Monday at 8:30 am, she was already lining up for the start of the MCC, ready to race 40km from Martigny to Chamonix. True to form, Iris dominated throughout, winning the women’s race by 18 minutes. UTMB 2024 had begun...
Climbing the Ranks: SCOTT Athletes Make Their Mark
Next up was the TDS, where SCOTT Athlete Gautier Airiau went toe-to-toe with a world-class field. Tackling 9300m of elevation, he swiftly climbed the rankings from 20th at the first checkpoint to finish in an impressive 3rd place over the 148km course.
The start lists in the OCC, CCC, and ETC races featured numerous SCOTT Athletes as well. There were promising performances in the ETC race from young athletes, including a 6th place finish for Emilie Bulle, and a solid top 10 finish for Arnaud Bonin in the CCC amid an incredibly talented field.

Cody Lind Delivers Pacing Masterclass to Claim 7th in the UTMB
All bets were off for the UTMB race this year—the stacked men’s and women’s fields left each race wide open, with SCOTT Athletes Cody Lind, Anne-Lise Rousset, Remi Berchet, and Andy Symmonds lining up among the 40+ other elite athletes fighting to claim the most coveted title in trail running.
The pace was strong from the front as runners stormed into the night. Anne-Lise Rousset fought hard to establish herself in a group with the top four women, but sadly, the cold became too much, and at about 3 am, she had to call it quits. Anne-Lise wasn’t the only victim during the night; SCOTT teammate Remi Berchet also bowed out due to nutrition issues, along with multiple other podium favorites, including Jim Walmsley.
While the wheels came off even for the most experienced UTMB athletes, SCOTT Athlete Cody Lind was further back in the pack, in 62nd place to be exact, running his own race. Calm and consistent through the night, Cody silently and swiftly climbed the rankings, reaching 17th position as he sailed through Champex-Lac as the sun rose. The rest of Cody’s race followed the same pattern as he picked off runner after runner, cruising into the finish in 7th place with a time of 21:33:16—truly a pacing strategy to marvel at. On his race strategy, Cody said, “The sunrise at Col Ferret was the highlight of the race, it was a true turning point for me and the moment I thought, ‘right. It’s time to make up ground’ – it’s a really good feeling when you're passing people and feeling well – so many positive things can happen in those last 80k if you set yourself up right.”
For Andy Symmonds, some nutrition issues saw him running slower than in 2022, when he finished 11th. Nevertheless, Andy kept it together to cross the finish line in 24th position and 2nd in his age category – Chapeau guys!

SCOTT Running's presence at UTMB 2024 was nothing short of inspiring. From Iris Pessey's commanding victory in the MCC to Cody Lind's masterclass in pacing during the UTMB, the team's performances demonstrated resilience, strategic thinking, and exceptional talent. These accomplishments not only highlight the strength and depth of SCOTT Athletes but also set the stage for even greater success in future events. Congratulations to all SCOTT runners for a week to remember.
